YouTube Video to Mp3 converter – Do you listen to music on YouTube? If that’s the case, perhaps you’d like a downloadable copy of those videos you enjoy so much.
You can save your YouTube videos as audio files using certain websites and programs that will extract the music tracks for you and save the audio file onto your computer.
If you just want to download YouTube videos, we have a guide for that, too, but here, we’ll stick to the task of downloading them as audio files. You know, so you don’t have to bother hitting fast forward everytime you want to listen to a damn song.
A Legal Warning
Before we get to that, however, first things first: Is this legal? That depends on the video. Download your own personal YouTube videos and videos in the public domain and/or not copyrighted.
You will find “free” content by searching YouTube with terms like “public domain” and “non-copyrighted” or by narrowing your search to include only videos with music licensed by Creative Commons.
Otherwise, you wouldn’t be able to legally download copyrighted clips without the owner’s consent.
As a disclaimer, a Google spokesperson said, “YouTube’s Terms of Service prohibit the downloading or copying of videos on YouTube without explicit consent from the copyright holder.
After being alerted to a violating tool or service that we’ve been notified of—and where a video has been downloaded using that service and without the permission of the content owner—we take action.”
Be Careful of Buggy and Misbehaving Sites
Also, be wary of many video conversion websites online. A lot of them can be buggy and occasionally malicious. A website could be perfectly safe and then get malware infections.
Before you attempt to use a website to convert a YouTube video, ensure your computer is protected by running up-to-date, reliable antivirus software. You might also do a web search on the name of the site to see if people have reported any complaints about it.
With those notes in mind, let’s take a look at a few websites and programs that can help you convert YouTube videos into audio files.
Dirpy
Copy and paste the URL of any YouTube video at the Dirpy website (dirpy.com) into the Search field and hit the Dirpy Button on the screen to display information regarding the file (name, duration, and ID3 tag).
Under the Record Audio heading, set the format to MP3 and the quality to best quality (320 kbps). Record audio, and you’re asked to save your MP3 file to your computer.
While Dirpy is free, the site warns that access may be sporadic. For no-queue access, you’ll have to pony up for Dirpy Premium at $6.99 per month or $83.99 per year.
YouConvert
Create MP3s from other YouTube videos that don’t even exist yet! Simply paste the video’s URL at the prompt, then click Convert.
Once you see the thumbnail for the music, tap one of the Download buttons, and your file will be available to download to your PC.
While YouConvert’s services are free, the site suggests that you show your support through a donation in order to keep it online. You can contribute any amount you so choose via PayPal, Stripe, or certain cryptocurrencies.
